Athletic Honors/Awards: A former youth soccer
player from a 2 time championship club Asja was recognized as the fastest player on the team by her coaches. Her cleats were upgraded to spikes & she
never looked back at chasing a ball. The gifted
speedster had been running for two months before
earning a spot at the finals of the USATF Junior
Olympics in Omaha NE. The bantam finalist finished
fourth in the 100M & sixth 200M.
Asja was chosen by USATF-New Jersey to be the recipient of the 2002 Bantam Girls-Sprint Division Athlete of the Year award. Her accomplishments continued as she placed 2nd at the Colgate Women Games in the world's famous arena, Madison Square Garden. Her success continues as she accepted the challenge to compete at the AAU Indoor National Championships where she placed first in 200M & fourth in the 55M. Asja understands that accomplishment is the result of working hard.
Fueled by her coaches, she entered the 2003 AAU
Junior Olympics in Detroit, MI where she won first place in 200M & 400M, setting a new Sub-Midget national record time of 59.30 for the latter. A few days later she departed Detroit for the USATF Junior Olympics in Miami FL. Competing as a Midget
she was the only 11 year old Classified to compete
with qualified twelve year olds. She placed third
shattering her national record time at 57.68 in the
400M.
Asja has been said to be the fastest 11 year
old in the nation. She may not be holding this title if it wasn’t for her dedication to train hard & her respect she has for her coaches.
